Prof Ophelia Tsui obtained her BSc degree (first class honor) from University of Hong Kong and PhD degree from Princeton University. She was a postdoc in MIT and UMass Amherst before joining the Physics Department of HKUST in 1998. In 2007, she moved to Boston University. In 2017, she rejoined the Physics department of HKUST. Professor Tsui has published more than 85 refereed journal articles, two edited books and one patent. She is a fellow of the American Physical Society and an Editorial Advisory Board member of Macromolecules.

Prof Tsui’s main research interests include the flow dynamics and surface structure of polymer nanometer films, mechanical and rheological properties of polymer nanostructures and nanocomposites, and impacts of interfaces on these properties. She is also interested in the fundamentals of glass transition, atomic force microscopy, surface analyses, and dielectric spectroscopy.
Research Areas
Polymer nanometer films, polymer nanostructures, surface analyses
